2010 JIBS Series Final Results: Male | Female | Teams
The Junior Indoor Bouldering Series was founded in 2001 to offer young competitive climbers a bouldering league just for them. The mission of JIBS is to educate climbing gyms and route-setters on the unique needs (and value) of junior competitive climbers, to encourage local gyms to host junior events and sponsor junior teams, and to encourage the local climbing community to compete in the best possible events.
In 2005, when USA Climbing officially recognized junior bouldering as its own discipline & hosted the second junior bouldering Nationals (the first was the JIBS/USAC Junior Nationals in 2004), JIBS had accomplished one of its main goals--to legitimize junior bouldering as a national sport. Since then, we have concentrated on helping gyms put on high quality youth events, and finding ways to assist young climbers in pursuing their climbing goals. To that end, in 2005, JIBS begin a program offering small scholarships to competitors in the JIBS series.
The Junior Bouldering Invitationals is a logical extension of the JIBS mission, to encourage young climbers to compete, improve & enjoy the sport of climbing for as many years as possible.

The JBI is really two comps in one if you are a JIBS participant. For any climber who has met the minimum requirements for JIBS (see here), the Redpoint portion of this event will also count as the 2010 JIBS Championships. Eligible JIBS participants will receive a year-end ranking based on their performance during this round (combined with their performance in local JIBS comps). Final year-end JIBS awards & scholarships will be based on this rank, as will the overall JIBS Team Ranks for the year. Of course, any JIBS competitors who qualify for finals will get a chance at the JBI scholarships as well--you see, two comps in one!
