  5. What is the Format?
The Junior portion of the event will have a Preliminary round and a Final round. The Preliminiary Round will be held under a Flash Format. Each Age Group will climb 2 to 3 separate routes, receiving a score for their highest point reached. Climbers will watch a PRG Forerunner climb each of their routes prior to the beginning of the session. The top competitors from this round will then compete in an Onsight Final, consisting of a single route scored for high point.

This event will also include a Speed climbing round, after Prelims. For more information regarding this or other formats, please consult the 2008 SCS Rulebook found at www.rockcomps.com.

The Citizens and Open portions of the event will be held under a Red-point format. Climbers will be scored on their best 3 routes, using the total number of falls to break ties. Open Climbers will also compete in an Onsight final.

All competitors, parents and coaches are expected to be familiar with the rules prior to attending the competition.
Please note: Formats are subject to change at any time, subject to the discretion of the PRG. Please call or check back for updated information.

  6. What about Lead Climbing?
As per USAC rules, all Youth B and older competitors can expect at least one lead climb during the comp; in addition, Finals for these climbers will also be lead. For the adults, lead climbing is optional during the red-point format. All competitors who lead must either be currently certified for Lead at a PRG Climbing Center or through an equivalent course. The PRG reserves the right to revoke or refuse Lead Climbing privileges for any climber at any time, for any reason.

  7. How can I help?
It takes a lot of dedicated individuals to put on an exceptional competition. We are always looking for interested volunteers who can help make these events the best they can possibly be. In particular, volunteers can help with:

           Judging Routes
           Scoring
           Set Up
           Forerunning
           ...and Route Setting

If you would like to volunteer for the Regional Championships in May in any one of these areas, please contact Jon Mann or Dave Rowland. Volunteers get the best seats in the house! Thanks in advance!
